Canada which is the country 's most important food per capita in the world also suffers the consequences of drought in California. 

Canadian consumers , like their American neighbors depend on California for fruits and vegetables , especially in winter. Several products (broccoli, celery, almonds , carrots, strawberries, cabbage, grape) have seen their prices increase more than 10%.

Among the reasons cited for this rise in prices : first the drought in California that limits production and is mechanically raise prices and lower Canadian dollar. Currencies, forward parity, now exchange rate for 1 USD is $ 0.80 Canadian .This could encourage Canadian retailers to turn to other sources of supply and new markets.
