Season of blueberries ended: satisfactory results

The 2012-2013 season of fresh blueberries in Chile ended.

The organization of professionals of the sector, Comité de Arándanos de Chile, which brings together 80% of the national operators, announced an export volume of 86,700 tons. Nearly 23% increase over the previous season and +9% compared to initial estimates. 

Therefore satisfactory result, despite a season described as "very difficult" by the Committee, with many reverses of the climate and operations. Chile is the largest producer of blueberries in the Southern hemisphere, with more than 13,000 acres.
