The winners of these 1st INTERPOMA TECHNOLOGY AWARDS.
The 11th edition of Interpoma, the international trade fair for the apple industry, took place from November 15th to 17th. For the first time this year the Interpoma Technology Awards, a prize for innovative technologies and machines presented at the show, were awarded.
The award ceremony was organized by Fiera Bolzano, in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Free University of Bolzano and the Italian Society of Horticulture, Floriculture and Fruit Cultivation (SOI). The jury, chaired by Massimo Tagliavini, brings together Italian and international researchers and university professors. In October and November, the members of the jury carefully examined and evaluated the innovations presented.
- FIELD (Culture and Protection Innovation) category: The Interpoma Technology Award was awarded to Biogard, a division of CBC Europe, for its "Mister Pro + Isomate® CM Mister 1.0" product. According to the jury, the company has developed a simple technology that contributes to a sophisticated and innovative pest control system.
- POST HARVEST category: the price goes to BIOMETIC, a division of the company MICROTEC for its product "Q Eye XP". The opinion of the jury: Q Eye XP designed by BioMetic is a scanner that can be installed on a packaging line and effectively detect defects within the fruit itself. The innovative aspect of this approach is the use of X-rays, a technology that is slowly starting to emerge but not yet exploited in the fruit industry. This complements other multi-sensor scanners that have already been proven in quality evaluation.
Beside the winners of the 2 categories, special mentions were awarded to 3 other structures: the Polish company GOTRACK for its "GOtrack Remote Control" in the FIELD category, as well as the company GREEFA, for its "SmartPackr²" product, and Meccanica Zucal for its "Polus 48" packaging robot, in the POST HARVEST category.
