Good prospects for the strawberries marketing

After the meeting in Perpignan, the strawberry contact group, bringing together professionals Spanish, French and Italians said good predictions for the season, both for production and for quality.

 In Spain, the surface is identical to last year, reaching 6,400 hectares. The quality is very good and production is expected to reach 245,000 tons.

In France, for a similar surface to that of 2010, production should be 30,000 tons. In Italy, there was a slight reduction in size compared to 2010, where 3,500 hectares were cultivated.

The strawberry contact group is one of the four groups that were created as part of the Hispano-French Joint Committee (tomato, garlic and stone fruit). Italy joined  the contact group and will receive its counterparts for the first time in Rome in April.
