Jan Oskam BV offers apples and pears grown in Dutch soil

Jan Oskam BV is a Dutch importer and exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables with over 70 years of background in the fruit business.

Kees Oskam, the General Director of Jan Oskam, has shared to Fructidor his expectations regarding the new season of apples and pears. 

According to General Director, the frosts in spring left a significant imprint on the current fruit crop:

“The crop is a little bit delayed due to mother nature. Last year we started in mid August, which was quite early, and this year, we’ll start the harvest in September, due to the delayed blossom of the trees. South Eastern and South Western parts of the Netherlands were more damaged by frosts in spring time. We are situated in the central part of the Netherlands, so our perspective for this season is quite positive, even though we have almost a 15% reduction in volume for pears. We expect a 10-15% increase in volume for apples.”

In terms of varieties, Jan Oskam BV offers Conference, Lukas, Xenia, Decana de Comice for pears, and Jonagold, Red Prince, Royal Gala, Pinova, Elstar, Red Boskop, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Pink Crisp, Junami and new variety Bonita for apples.
