MIDAGRI presented digital tools designed to support traceability, legal origin and deforestation-free supply chains.
Peru is reinforcing its position in sustainable agricultural markets through digital traceability and producer-identification tools aimed at meeting tougher international standards.
At #CONEXIÓNVerde+ in Brussels, the closing event of the European Union’s AL-INVEST Verde programme, MIDAGRI presented the country’s progress in sustainability, traceability and competitiveness for agricultural export chains.
The ministry highlighted three core tools: the Agricultural Producer Registry, the Producer Digital Identity system and the AgroDigital platform. Together, these systems are designed to improve data quality, verify legal origin and support traceability in key chains such as coffee, cocoa and oil palm.
MIDAGRI also presented work carried out in San Martín, where AgroDigital has been used to georeference plots, strengthen digital training for farming families and align traceability systems with international market requirements.
According to MIDAGRI, these measures are part of Peru’s response to stricter rules in global markets, especially in Europe, where buyers are placing more emphasis on sustainability, legal sourcing and deforestation-free supply chains.
Peru exports more than US$15 billion in agricultural products each year, with the European Union remaining a strategic destination for the sector.
