Netherlands takes 55% of Peru’s pomegranate exports

Peruvian pomegranate exports recorded a strong start to 2026, with higher value, volume and stable average prices.
Peru exported US$146.8 million worth of fresh pomegranates between January and May 2026, already exceeding the US$116.7 million recorded for the whole of 2025.
Export volume also moved above last year’s full-year result. Shipments reached 51,673 tonnes in the first five months of 2026, compared with 41,822 tonnes across 2025. The average export price stood at US$2.84 per kilo, slightly higher than the US$2.79 per kilo registered last year.
March was the strongest month of the period, with exports of US$64.2 million and 21,897 tonnes. April followed with US$37.2 million, while May added US$15.2 million from 5,302 tonnes.
The Netherlands was the main destination, taking US$80.1 million, or 55% of total FOB value. The United States ranked second with US$27 million, equal to 18%. Other key markets included Russia with US$9.6 million, the United Kingdom with US$9.6 million, and Canada with US$7.4 million.
Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Turkey and Spain also appeared among the main destinations, while smaller volumes were shipped to the United Arab Emirates and Iraq.
