During the latest table grape export campaign in Peru, there has been a significant shift in the ranking of the most exported grape varieties.
For the first time in over two decades of analyzing Peruvian table grape export statistics, Red Globe has lost its position as the most exported grape variety, with Sweet Globe taking its place.
Benjamín Cillóniz, the general manager of Exportadora Safco Perú, highlighted the possibility that this change could be part of a cyclic phase and that it may not be long before the red varieties regain their top position.
Looking ahead to the next few seasons, Cillóniz predicts that the traditional grape varieties will continue to decline, while the licensed green varieties, such as Autumn Crisp, will continue to grow in popularity.
The current ranking of Peru's top exported grape varieties is as follows:
-
Sweet Globe: 16.127.941 boxes
-
Red Globe: 14.083.412 boxes
-
Autumn Crisp: 6.872.714 boxes
-
Allison: 5.958.547 boxes
Sweet Celebration: 3.702.255 boxes
Ivory: 2.940.765 boxes
Crimson Seedless: 2.930.580 boxes
Timpson: 2.874.501 boxes
Jack's Salute: 2.503.677 boxes
