In Poland the 2021 berry production is expected to increase

The current campaign is satisfactory and according to official data the 2021 production of strawberries should register a variation of + 21% in volume, the production of currants + 4%, the production of blackcurrants + 1% and the production of raspberries should reach a volume similar to that of 2020.

 

According to estimates made by GUS (Główny Urząd Statystyczny), the Polish statistical office, the 2021 production of strawberries should amount to 177,000 tonnes, or + 21% compared to last year; the production of currants at more than 150,000 tonnes, ie + 4%; blackcurrant production at over 111,000 tonnes, i.e. + 1%, and raspberry production at 120,000 tonnes, i.e. a volume similar to that in 2020.

 

The majority of Polish berries are intended for export, either as fresh fruit or as frozen fruit. The main destinations are Germany and the Netherlands, followed by Sweden, Italy, Austria, Belgium and France.
