Pitayas exports to India are multiplied by 20 !
FJ
The Vietnamese pitaya or Dragon fruit ( Hylocereus , sweet pitaya ) records impressive growth in exports to India. According to the Fruit Growers Association and vegetables in Vietnam , exports of dragon fruit to India registered a real leap, 20 times more than the same period last year.
This increase is explained by the change in mode of transport. Passing from air to ship, transport costs have decreased significantly (from 150 rupees / kg to Rs 20 / kg) resulting in an increase in volumes.
The consumption of dragon fruit increases in India for several years. But the dragon fruit produced locally is available only five months in the year , while the Vietnamese dragon fruit is available almost 10 months a year.
