Brazil has secured access to Kuwait for fresh papaya, adding a new destination for its fruit exports under a series of agricultural market-opening agreements announced by the federal government.
Brazil has opened the Kuwaiti market to fresh papaya, according to an announcement issued on 1 October by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The authorisation was part of a broader round of market-access agreements covering Brazilian agricultural products in Kuwait, Nicaragua, Syria and Bangladesh. For Brazilian fruit exporters, access to Kuwait creates another potential outlet for fresh papaya and expands the range of overseas markets available to the sector.
The announcement reflects Brazil’s continued efforts to negotiate market access for its agricultural products. Exporters will still need to comply with the import requirements applicable to the destination market.
