Peru projects strong increase in Hass avocado shipments and targets new markets

Hass avocado exports are expected to grow by 37% in 2025, rebounding from the 10% decline seen in 2024 due to adverse weather conditions, according to the Peruvian Association of Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters (ProHass). Despite the setback, Peru remained the world's second-largest avocado exporter last year.
In the 2024 season, Senasa certified 55,595 hectares of avocado in 17 regions, including small producers in Ayacucho, Ancash, Lima, Arequipa, Apurimac and Huancavelica. These growers work together with Senasa to ensure crop health, which allows them to maintain quality and meet international market requirements.
Europe currently receives 57% of Peruvian avocado, followed by the United States (17%), Chile (10%) and China (7%), with a presence in 67 markets in total. ProHass seeks to strengthen its global position with new alliances and investments in promotion, and plans to enter the Philippines in 2025.
ProHass will also launch a campaign in Peru to promote avocado consumption and its benefits. The association called on producers and exporters to improve planning throughout the chain, ensuring that the fruit meets quality standards, such as a minimum of 22% dry matter, key to its flavor and acceptance.
