September is the month when the fruit export season in Brazil starts. Today, this country remains one of the major global exporters of papaya, pineapple, lime, mango, melon, and watermelon, among others.
According to the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas), fruit exports will reduce by around 15% this year.
According to Luiz Roberto Barcelos, Institutional Director of Abrafrutas, in the post-pandemic scenario,
the lower export volumes are expected because production costs are very high, and added that maritime freight costs are negatively impacting the industry.
