South Africa plans to increase its exports of apples and pears to the EUROPEAN UNION this year.

Hortgro, the organization of producers in South Africa, predicts exports of more than 40 million cartons of apples and pears this season - approximately 26.6 million cartons of apples and 13.6 million cartons of pears

Apple exports will be up 4.4% of the previous season, which saw shipments of 25.5 million cartons. The most exported varieties are Golden Delicious, Granny Smith and Royal Gala.
