Agricultural sector starts up again

Growth is positive for all sub-sectors: grains, livestock, fruits and vegetables.
After several quarters of contraction, the agricultural sector in the Philippines is rising again in the first quarter of 2017.
According to PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority), agriculture in the Philippines recovered and grew by 5.3% in the first quarter of 2017, mainly due to favorable weather conditions.
All subsectors posted positive growth. Agricultural prices rose by 3.3% in the first quarter of 2017 compared with the same period in 2016. Rice and maize production increased like bananas, pineapples, beans, tomatoes, garlic, onions and eggplants .
