Clementine exports on the rise

From the beginning of the export campaign in March until May 2022, clementine exports from Peru totaled 6,278,322 kilos and reached a value of $7,784,991, according to the Agrodata Peru portal. In contrast, in the same period of last year the supplies of said fruit accumulated 5,710,345 kilos for $7,620,038.
The main destinations for Peruvian clementines in the analyzed term of 2022 were the United States, with a participation of 95% ($7,425,956), the Netherlands with 2% ($142,798), the United Kingdom with 1% ($86,466), Mexico with 1% ($66,000) and other countries 1% ($69,770).
Approximately 90% of the exports of this citrus fruit come from the Ica and Lima regions.
The clementine is a consequence of the cross between tangerines and oranges. It is a seedless variety, with a sweet flavor, it is smaller in size than mandarins and is easier to peel.
