Chambers- The soft fruit experts
Chamber is a member of the Asplins Producer Organization, a fruit Producing, packaging and marketing co-operative with 12 members who produce soft fruit, top fruit and stone fruit across the UK.
One of the positive steps of Chambers has been the sustainability to carefully address a balance between economic progress and preserving the earth´s natural resources.
Chambers has opted for the installation of solar panels on most buildings associated with packaging activity over the last four years. Currently, these panels are generating 220,000-kilowatt hours per annum. Also, the carboard that is used to transport imported fruit (in addition to the domestic grown product, Chambers has a grower network across 17 countries to ensure seamless year-round supply to its customers) is either baled and taken to recycling or where appropriated re-used for the onwards journey to the customer
To make the Sustainability possible Chamber has to make some alliances, they are now working with a dedicated recycling company to launch a dry mixed recycling initiative which will enable the recycling of certain paper/plastic materials currently employed in the business.
