Expected sharp decline in the production of plums in the Mendoza region.
The latest crop forecasts announce a significant decline of the production.
In the Mendoza region, the harvest forecasts, made ??in November, reported a production of 60 000 tons for the Agen plum. The previous crop had reached 136,000 tons.
This decline in production is consequence of several causes: lack of irrigation, pest attacks, year after strong harvest, late frost. Frost damage lead to lower production of Agen plums (-71%), peech for the industry (-66%), pears (-30%), apples (-25%), fresh plums (-90%), cherries (-85%).
