The global citrus platform was launched at Fruit Attraction, Madrid. Led by AILIMPO (Spain) and CGA (South Africa), other structures from Argentina, Chile, Italy, Morocco and Peru will join.
One of the initiators of WCO (World Citrus Organization) presented the new organization to the European Commission in Brussels.
The European Commission has launched the Market Observatory for Citrus, the European Observatory for Citrus Markets. On this occasion, the European Commission asked Jose Antonio Garcia Fernandez, director of Ailimpo and one of the initiators of WCO (World Citrus Organization) to present the structure, the role and the objectives of this new organization.
The European Commission has welcomed this global initiative under the leadership of Ailimpo, highlighting the relevance the platform for the citrus sector in order to exchange information and debate on common issues. Such a platform is fully aligned with the objective of the European Market Observatory, which aims to ensure transparency and market trends. The work of the World Citrus Organization will be beneficial for the deliberations of the European Citrus Market Observatory.
After collaborating with other similar international fruits platforms, the European Commission hopes to have a fruitful cooperation with this new structure as soon as it is fully operational.
