Reinforced controls on imports and importers

Algeria wants to fight against fraud on imports and strengthens controls.

The Tax Department has announced new arrangements for imports . Importers will now pay a tax charge that will represent 0.3% of the invoice amount , with a minimum of 20 000 Dinars . The current tax was fixed arbitrarily at 10 000 dinars , regardless of the amount of import .

In addition to these fiscal taxes , administration hardens the procedures to be followed . Importers will fill out forms about their activities and may be subject to controls ( business reality , verification of the quantities imported ... ) .
