Les Délices Rouges or Kara® premium strawberry
Nearly 400 tons of Kara® are produced and sold annually by SARL Du Menhir, based in Tayrac in Lot-et-Garonne.
Created in 2023 by the Mattivi Group, the variety's breeder, and Sarl du Menhir, Délices Rouges is the club for French producers of the premium Kara® strawberry variety. The Kara® strawberry is a deep, bright, and uniform red color. Its firmness allows it to keep for around eight days. It appeals to growers with its yield of over one kilogram per plant.
From April to December
"Our production runs from April to December without heating, thanks to two growing cycles," says Arielle Pianegonda, manager of SARL Du Menhir and co-manager of Délices Rouges.
Délices Rouges brings together producers and marketers in France (delicesrouges.fr).
The Mattivi Group in Italy is developing the Kara® variety with other partners in several countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Canada.
