The imports of oranges will rise by 40%

Chinese oranges demand will increase and therefore orange imports will increase significantly too.

According to a report from the US Department of Agriculture Chinese orange imports for the 2015/16 season will increase by 40% to 200,000 tonnes. Mainly due to strong demand for cons-season oranges produced in countries in the southern hemisphere.

Chinese production is expected to total 7 million tons of oranges for 2015/16 and exports are estimated at only 45 000 tonnes for the same period.
