Confirming the recovery from the health crisis, Costa Rica is recording remarkable progress in its agricultural and food exports.
Procomer (Promotora de Comercio Exterior de Costa Rica) has announced that, compared to 2020, agricultural exports have increased by +6% and food exports have increased by +26%. Together these exports represent a 35% share of the country's total exports.
Pineapple exports grew by 12%, frozen fruit by 42%, mangoes by 65% and coconuts by 144%.
Procomer underlined its firm intention to continue to support the sector and to open up even more opportunities in international markets for Costa Rican products.
The number one sector for the country's exports remains the precision equipment/medical equipment sector, which has grown by 33% compared to 2020 and has a 36% share of total exports. In 2021, Costa Rica's exports reached USD 14,553 million, a growth of 24% compared to 2020. This 24% rate is the highest increase in the last 15 years.
