National Blueberry Month is launched. The various actions and events planned in stores or on social networks aim to stimulate consumer interest, increase blueberry sales and give a boost to a good cause.
USHBC (U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council) kicked off National Blueberry Month in New York, during a media event where dozens of journalists and influencers learned all about the benefits of blueberries for a healthy lifestyle.
The 'Grab a Boost of Blue' logo will be present at all points of sale. USHBC has tip sheets available for retailers to improve sales and also recommends sharing with consumers, on social networks, new and attractive ways to enjoy blueberries.
USHBC has also launched a 31-day Challenge for donations to the No Kid Hungry campaign. Throughout July, for every blueberry appreciation post on social media, USHBC will donate $1 to the 'No Kid Hungry' campaign. Just tag @blueberries on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and @blueberrycouncil on TikTok to help raise up to $50,000 which can help provide 500,000 meals for children in need.
In the United States, about 12 million children live in "food insecure" homes, according to the Department of Agriculture. The 'No Kid Hungry' campaign works to fight childhood hunger by helping to launch and improve programs that give all children the healthy food they need to thrive. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of Share Our Strength, an organization committed to ending hunger and poverty.
USHBC is a federal agricultural research and promotion program that was established in 2000. USHBC represents North and South American blueberry growers and packers who market their blueberries in the United States and the overseas, and strive to promote the growth and welfare of the entire blueberry industry. USHBC currently has 2,500 growers, packers and importers.
