Colombian organic avocado available 52 weeks of the year

Tropic Organic is a fruit producer and exporter based in the municipality of Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia. The company's vocation is the organic production of Hass avocado and other products in the medium term.

 

The avocado production for export to Europe, the USA and Canada is developed in about 180 hectares. It is the first Colombian company that was authorized to export organic Hass avocado to the United States.

 

“Starting next year we will incorporate organic plantain into our product line and in the medium term we will offer cape gooseberry, gulupa and organic mango. It is worth mentioning that in Colombia we are the only certified organic company and, due to the location of our selection and packing plant located in the Municipality of Urrao, the exported fruit is harvested and packed the same day. We have the instruments to verify the dry matter of the fruit prior to harvest. We keep track of the growers we buy the fruit from. Our technical production teams monitor the fruit throughout the year. We offer the fruit 52 weeks of the year. ”, says the General Manager of Tropic Organic, Ramon Pieve.

 

By 2022, according to Mr. Pieve, it is planned to set up the new sorting and packing plant that will allow them to go from 80 to 192 tons of fruit for export.

 

“We also began planting 350 hectares of organic Hass avocado in the same Municipality of Urrao, which will allow us to reach 530 hectares of our own Hass avocado and of organic production. Furthermore, our picking and packing plant has been authorized to export to China. This is one of our projects for this 2022. ”, says the director.
