Organic farming, offering excellent yields and quality products, seems the appropriate response to meet demand while improving the products.
A meeting on these issues has just taken place. To optimize its cultures, Vietnam must take better account of organic production and in particular for rice, tea, coffee, vegetables, herbs and mushrooms.
Organic production meets the demand for quality and food safety markets, while protecting the environment, biodiversity and preserving soil fertility. Farms stand out as example. Near the city of Can Tho (South), organic production has allowed farmers to reduce their costs by 40%, improving their income. In the province of Kien Giang (South) of rice lands have been converted to organic vegetable plantations.
The Institute of Science and farming techniques believes that organic production should be strengthened and considered a mandatory orientation. Competent agencies should promulgate regulations to certify the origins and certify different products.
