Peru is the second largest supplier of mangoes in the US, after Mexico, and before Ecuador, Brazil, Guatemala and Haiti.
Over the past 10 years, mango consumption in the US has increased threefold and is expected to increase further according to NMB (National Mango Board) and OCEX. Peru is the second largest supplier of mangoes in the USA.
Peru exported nearly 15,000 tons of mangoes to the US in January and more than 20,000 tons in February, exceeding those volumes in Mexico, which is the main supplier to the US market. Peruvian fresh mango is available in the United States between December and March, but also offers other presentations (frozen, processed, juice).
Mango has become a very popular fruit in the USA. Public interest in trying new tastes and people of immigrant origin from Asian and Latin American countries have boosted demand. Demand that is expected to increase by 30% for the next season.
