Increased exports by 50% in 2017 for JAFFA ORRI mandarins. This is the prognosis of PLANT PRODUCTION AND MARKETING BOARD, initiator of innovative research projects, promoter of the JAFFA brand and support / aids to farmers to advance production, exhibiting at the CityCube Hall B Stand C-17.
JAFFA ORRI's mandarin is a mandarin developed by scientists from the Volcani Research Center (Israel). Easy to peel, with a minimum seed content, this tangerine offers a remarkable flavor. Its season is extensive and its life span is particularly long. Moreover, it ripens during a period when most easy-peelers are short of supply in the markets. Its demand is growing rapidly.
By 2016 production was 90 000 tons, this season it will reach about 135 000 tons and in some years 200 000 tons. The mandarins JAFFA ORRI are mainly exported to the European market which receives 78%. France, the Netherlands and Scandinavia rank first among the best customers, followed by Russia. Only 18% of fruits are shipped to North America and 4% to Asia-Pacific.
