Consumption does not weaken and production continues to increase, the boom recorded in recent years will continue according to the study by RaboResearch
According to the study by RaboResearch (Rabobank) the avocado is a globally popular superfruit with many consumers in all countries. The demand for avocados in the United States remains strong and the country will continue to be the largest importer of avocados in the world. This American demand, which is constant throughout the year, will be satisfied mainly by the increase in imports but also by the increase in national production, which benefits from this strong domestic demand.
The demand for avocados in the European market has been booming for a decade. Slightly slower but still high growth is predicted in high-consumption countries. European countries with low consumption seem to be catching up, with sustained growth. Overall, the European market should enter a new phase of slower growth.
The study predicts that market diversification will be a key factor in 2022 and beyond, due to the oversupply that is likely to occur in the European market. Mainly due to the stoppage of exports to Russia and Ukraine and the slowdown in European consumption.
As far as production is concerned, after Mexico, the main South American countries that produce avocados are Peru, Chile and Colombia, where avocado production will continue to increase.
