The season of table grapes started

All around the Mediterranean the season of of table grapes started with a dozen of days in advance.

Egypt started in May, followed by Israel and Morocco. The destinations of these grapes are mainly northern Europe, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, but also the Gulf countries. Operators are now trying to diversify their markets and shall initiate a breakthrough to Asian markets.

Analysts predict that the EU will import table grapes between 53 000 and 63 000 tonnes this season. The majority will come from Egypt (50,000 tonnes) the remainder will be coming from Morocco (8 to 10 000 tonnes) and from Israel (2000 to 4 000 tonnes).
