Peru's fresh asparagus exports show mixed performance in first five months of 2026

Fresh asparagus exports started 2026 on a different footing, with shifts seen across volumes, pricing and destination markets from January to May 2026.
Peru exported fresh asparagus worth US$106.8 million between January and May 2026, according to Agrodata. During the period, export volume reached 27.5 million kilos, while the average export price stood at US$3.88 per kilo.
January remained the strongest month of the year so far, generating US$32.8 million from 8.4 million kilos exported. April followed with exports valued at US$31.7 million and a volume of 7.4 million kilos. In May, exports totalled US$22.9 million from 7.1 million kilos, with an average price of US$3.23 per kilo.
The United States remained the main destination for Peruvian fresh asparagus, with exports reaching US$75.2 million during the period, far ahead of other markets.
Spain and the Netherlands followed with around US$8.4 million each, while the United Kingdom accounted for US$7.3 million. Germany imported US$1.1 million worth of Peruvian fresh asparagus, followed by Brazil with US$1.2 million and Belgium with US$400,000.
