Bananas or other products from Ivory Coast can be exported directly to the Samara region.
Samara is the 6th largest city in Russia and the administrative capital of the Samara Oblast, a region south-east of Moscow and not far from the border with Kazakhstan. The region imports products from Ivory Coast directly.
The Rosselkhoznadzor Regional Office (Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service) has stated that fruits and vegetables from Ivory Coast are allowed to enter the country only through direct imports. This directive took effect at the beginning of March 2017.
For the Samara region, which had already established direct relations with suppliers located in West Africa, the products are now imported only without intermediaries. The Directive applies to operators who have attempted to introduce products via Belarus under cover of products from Ivory Coast. Upon arrival, the products will be checked.
