MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has unveiled iReefer, an advanced monitoring system designed to enhance the tracking and management of refrigerated cargo. This innovative solution enables customers to monitor their temperature-controlled shipments in real time, no matter where they are in the world.

With iReefer, users gain access to real-time data on location, temperature, humidity, and other key metrics related to their reefer shipments. The system can be accessed via myMSC, the company’s digital platform, or through an API (Application Programming Interface) for seamless integration into business systems.

To cater to different customer needs, MSC offers three iReefer packages:

-iReefer Essential – A free, entry-level option that provides an overview of active and past shipments, journey logs, and data visualization through graphs.

-iReefer Pro – Includes all Essential features, plus unlimited downloads and additional insights like GPS tracking of containers.

-iReefer Ultimate – Designed for high-volume shippers, this package connects directly with a company’s internal systems via an API, ensuring automated data exchange.

The Pro and Ultimate packages are already available.

MSC strengthens its digital capabilities

As a global leader in refrigerated cargo transport, MSC moves over 1 million reefer containers annually. The company operates one of the most advanced reefer fleets worldwide, backed by a dedicated team of over 1,000 reefer specialists across different regions.

The introduction of iReefer represents a significant step forward in MSC’s digital transformation, aimed at streamlining the shipping process and enhancing supply chain efficiency. MSC already offers MSC Smart Containers, which enable remote tracking for dry cargo, and iReefer builds upon this foundation to optimize the cold chain.

To implement this initiative, MSC has connected over 210,000 reefer containers and equipped more than 500 vessels with iReefer technology. The company plans to continue expanding the system across its entire fleet in the coming years.
