The charge will apply to both dry and refrigerated containers from October.
MSC will introduce a Peak Season Surcharge on shipments from the West Mediterranean, Adriatic and Israel to the United States, Canada and Mexico from 1 October 2026.
The surcharge will be USD 400 for 20-foot containers and USD 600 for 40-foot containers. It will apply to all container types, including reefers.
MSC said the measure reflects current market conditions on these trade routes. Other elements of its existing pricing will remain unchanged.
The surcharge will remain in place until further notice.
