According to the statistics of Assobacam (Banana Association of Cameroon) the volume of bananas exported during the month of August this year is 2,221 tons less than that recorded for the month of August last year.

For Assobacam, banana exports during August 2019 totaled 12 692 tonnes, divided between PHP for 11,521 tonnes and Boh Plantations for 1,171 tonnes. Last year for the same period the volume reached 14 913 tons. That is a decrease of 2,221 tons.

This decline in exports can be explained by the cessation of activities at CDC (Cameroon Development Corporation), a company affected by the socio-political crisis in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon. CDC has stopped exporting since September 2018.
