The project, initiated in 2017, promoted the responsible use of pesticides, the technification of the crop and the implementation of drip irrigation systems to reach the standards required for export.
The avocado boom in the Ancash region of Peru marks a milestone in 2025. This season, 170 tons of the fruit were shipped to various international markets from 13 producing areas, between Hornillos and Julquillas. The improvement in the yield per hectare -which went from 6 to 15 tons- was possible thanks to the technical support and good agricultural practices promoted by the alliance between Antamina and Talsa, according to Peruvian media.
Total sales reached S/. 687,850 ($186,700 USD), with destinations such as France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and some Asian countries.
At the same time, the province of Huarmey achieved its first export of 120 tons of Hass avocado, making its way into markets of the United States, the Netherlands, China and Spain. Currently, Huarmey has 1,200 hectares of crops that support more than 660 families.
The project, launched in 2017, promoted the responsible use of pesticides, crop modernization, and the implementation of drip irrigation systems to meet export standards. In addition, 28 producers earned Global GAP and GRASP certifications, positioning themselves as reliable suppliers of high-quality avocados.
