In Australia the production of spinach has increased by 20% in volume and according to the professionals several factors will contribute to stimulate the growth of the production.
The volume of Australian spinach production totaled 37 000 tonnes in 2018, an increase of about 20% in one year. According to Australian professionals, volumes produced could still grow.
Thanks to an improvement in harvesting techniques, a better transformation of imperfect products (leaves too big or too small) for various food products, but especially by increasing exports and stimulating national consumption.
According to studies, an Australian household purchases only 8 to 10 portion of spinach a year while an average household in the UK purchases 15-16 a year.
