Giant avocado called Linda makes her entrance

The giant avocado debuting at UK retailer Waitrose is the ‘Linda’ variety, meaning ‘beautiful’ in its native Peru and other Spanish-speaking countries.

The lovely Linda weighs up to 1.5kg as the fruit stays on trees in Peru’s Chincha valley for up to one year to achieve its exceptional size.
 

The avocado has a creamy texture with a very intense and slightly nutty avocado flavour. It is available in several of Waitrose’s London outlets, priced £4.99 (€5.68).
