France is the main supplier of fruit and vegetables to Spain

From January to September 2022, Spain imported 2.7 million tons of fresh fruits and vegetables (+7% compared to the same term in 2021) for 2,714 million euros (+13%), according to data from the Department of Customs and Taxes. Specials from the Tax Agency.

 

52% of these goods came from non-EU countries, 1.4 million tons (+1%) for 1,852 million euros (+13%). 48% was imported from the European Union, 1.3 million tons (+13%) for 863 million euros (+13%).

 

The largest supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables for Spain in absolute terms is France, with 677,849 tons (+19%) for 235 million euros (+25%).

 

At the community level, Portugal was placed in second position with a total of 260,436 tons (+29%) for 219 million euros (+19%), followed by the Netherlands, with some 158,117 tons (-7%) for 148 million euros (+2%).

 

Regarding the non-EU sphere, the first supplier is Morocco, with 427,279 tons (+8%) of fruit and vegetables for 717 million euros (+18%).
