Lemon production reduced in the region of Tucumán
FJ
In the region of Tucumán, lemon production will be much lower than the volumes of previous years.
Adverse weather conditions have led to problems that will significantly reduce the production. Professionals believe that for the current harvest (May-August) the decline could reach 50% to 60% with a total planned production around 600,000 tons.
The region exports normally around 270 000 tons of fresh lemons and ships approximately 1 million tons to the industry. This year, the producers think they can export only 170 to 180 000 tons and destine 400 000 tons to industrials.
