The Crimea imports vegetables

According to official information, during January-May of the current year, more that 6000 tons of fresh fruit and vegetable produce were imported to the Crimea, that is up by 2377 tons or 1.6 times, compared to the same period of 2008.
During the reported period, the Crimea purchased 4956 tons of tomatoes that is up 2.5 times compared to the same period of 2008, 746 tons of cucumbers, 203 tons of pepper, 13 tons of egg-plants and 8 tons of cauliflower.
Despite the overproduction of early potatoes in the Crimea, during 5 months of the current year 60 tons of this produce were imported from Jordan that is up 3 times compared to the last year.
Also specialists report that in the first quarter of 2009 the Crimea exported almost 2700 tons of vegetables and 20 tons of potatoes.
