Italy exports approximately every year to Germany 3,2 million tons of fruit and vegetables.
Germany is the most important commercial partner for Italian farmers and growers absorbing about 40% of the total Italian export of fruit and vegetables.
Principal fruit products (excluding citrus fruit) that are found on the tables of German consumers are apples, grapes, peaches, nectarines, kiwis and pears. These fresh products in years 2000 - 2006 represented 85 - 88% of total Italian fresh fruit export in German market.
As refers to vegetables, the most popular in German market were: carrots, tomatoes, lettuce and cauliflowers.
