The visit of President Putin on October 10th was awaited with hope by Turkish food exporters, particularly fruit and vegetables.
This is the first time that the Russian President visits Turkey since the establishment of the Russian embargo on many Turkish products since 1 January.
In the context of improved relations between the two, one of the first steps was to cancel the embargo of many fruits and vegetables such as citrus fruits apricots, peaches and plums.
However many products, such as apples, pears, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes, onions, cauliflower, cucumbers, poultry meat, salt and flowers were not allowed to import to Russia.
Exported products will of course meet the phytosanitary requirements imposed by the Russian Quarantine Service.
This is good news for Turkish exporters, who have suffered big losses last season. It is also good news for Russian consumers, as the price of fruit and vegetables decrease in the domestic market.
