During the first quarter of this year, the Peruvian agro-export sector achieved revenues of 2.494 billion dollars, which is an increase of +9.7% compared to the same period last year.
The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) reported that this increase is mainly due to the high demand for products such as blueberries, avocado, coffee, paprika, bananas and quinoa.
In the first three months of 2024, Peruvian agricultural products reached more than 150 international markets. The United States, the Netherlands and Spain stood out as the largest importers of Peruvian foods, including grapes, blueberries, avocados, cocoa, bananas and paprika.
According to Midagri, the growth in agro-exports to the United States was 8.8%, consolidating it as the main destination for these exports. In addition, there was a notable increase in sales to European countries, with significant increases in the Netherlands (26.6%), Spain (27.6%), Belgium (62%), Germany (32.6%) and England (41.4%). To these are added increases in exports to Chile and Canada.
