Honduras will resume the export of avocados to Costa Rica, as reported by the Authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Honduras (SAG), through the National Service for Agrifood Health and Safety (SENASA).
The renewal of exports is carried out after verifying that the Avocado Sunblotch Viroid plague has not been detected in Honduras.
It should be noted that the Costa Rican State Phytosanitary Service has suspended exports of the Honduran avocado in May 2021 in order to mitigate the risk of the Avocado Sunblotch Viroid pest.
However, Costa Rica confirmed that this measure was recently suspended by notification to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
