Port terminals of Barcelona have increased the number of connections for refrigerated containers to meet the growing demand, including fruit and vegetables, meat, and pharmacy.
The BEST container terminals, APM Terminals and Port Nou multipurpose port have extended this year the number of electrical connections for refrigerated containers, resulting in a 71% increase in the total number of refrigerated connections offered by the Port of Barcelona.
For example, the BEST container terminal increased from 1,600 to 2,750 connection points in July. It is now the most connected terminal in the entire Mediterranean. APM Terminals added 152 reefer feeder links and totals 632 connection points. The Port Nou multifunctional terminal installed 170 refrigeration connections.
This commitment of the Port of Barcelona to have infrastructures for the traffic of fresh products is completed by a vast network of specific logistic services. The Port of Barcelona offers regular and reliable rail and road links with the main wholesale markets in Spain such as Mercabarna, Mercazaragoza and Mercamadrid, as well as with the important Saint-Charles market in Perpignan (France).
