France
Wednesday 25 July 2007
Auchan hypermarket stores in France, Poland and Hungary will promote during this month citrus and general fruit from the Spanish Community of Valencia, after the French retail group signed a deal with the Valencian Export Institute IVEX.
In-store promotion will develop in three phases, depending on the best time for sale and consumption of each fruit. Main focus will involve initially peaches and nisperos; further promotional activity is planned for table grapes in September and citrus, kaki and pomegranates in November.
Main supplier will be Zenalco group, whose turnover totalled 110 million euros in 2006, with over 124.000 tons of fruit exported, mainly destined to France, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Hungary and Russia.
Auchan operates in 12 countries through 389 hypermarket stores, over 717 supermarkets, the branch bank Accord and the real estate agency Immochan which, on the whole, employ over 175.000 persons worldwide.
