Gooseberries are main niche berries in Ukraine

According to the local specialists, gooseberries are considered to be the most important niche berries in Ukraine at the current moment. In contrast to other berries, gooseberries get the advantage as this kind of berries is resistant to fungoid diseases, there cropping could be mechanized, yielding period goes up to 10-15 years. Based on the recent data, consumption of gooseberries rallies in Ukraine, but mainly among amateurs, while professional farmers do not show high interest in gooseberries growing. According to the recent information, gooseberries production has soared up to 4% within last 5 years in Ukraine.
