The rising price of wood pallet appears inescapable

A readjustment of sales tariffs of wooden pallets seems inevitable.

The SYPAL (National Union of wood pallet) predicts a strong increase in the price of sawnwood used to manufacture pallets. This will result in an increase in the price of wooden pallets next year.

The Syndicat recalls that the wood material alone represents 70 to 75% of the cost of a pallet. In 2011, the production of pallets represented 1.9 million of m3 of timber, 22% of French production amounted to 8.6 million of m3. Part of the tree used for the production of sawnwood pallet is selective in comparison to other uses (paper, board manufacturing, wood energy).
