Satisfactory production in China should lead to fewer imports

For the 2023/24 marketing year, Chinese apple and table grape production is expected to increase.
Apples
According to a recent GAIN report issued by the USDA, apple production in China for the 2023/24 marketing year (July-June) should reach 45 million tons. That's +1% compared with the 2022/23 season.
Chinese apple exports should reach 880,000 tonnes, up 13% on the 2022/23 campaign. Chinese apple imports should reach only 76,000 tonnes. This is -20% compared with 95,300 tonnes in the 2022/23 campaign.
Table grapes
According to the GAIN report, Chinese table grape production is expected to reach 13.5 million tonnes in the 2023/24 season (June-May), up 6% on the 2022/23 season.
Chinese table grape exports are expected to reach 480,000 tonnes, up 23% on the 2022/23 campaign. Chinese imports of table grapes are expected to reach 120,000 tonnes, down 30% on the 2022/23 campaign.
